Luke with The Outdoor Boys YouTube channel (15 million subscribers) just posted a Goodbye video:
Fatima, Maria, Forrest G., and myself will miss watching new episodes of his show.
Folks, I’ve been posting on YouTube since 2012 and have over 2,100 videos on this channel. I certainly understand his message and where he’s coming from. As he said, it’s hard to communicate how much time and energy gets put into creating videos. There’s nobody to teach you how to deal with the fame. You’re constantly second-guessing yourself for putting your kids in front of the camera. Whatever his reasons are for taking a break, I wish him the best of luck. Me? I feel like I’m just getting started. I ain’t going nowhere.
Hey Luke,
It’s your world but I’ll offer my two cents.
Take your wife on a 3-week vacation and leave the camera and kids with family. Come back refreshed, take a deep breath, and get back to work. You’ve got 15 million people waiting for your next show! Res ipsa, my friend. Old Single Dads like us ain’t got the luxury of slowing down until our health gives us no other option. (If that’s the case, then obviously I understand.)
Instead of saying goodbye, I’d DOUBLE DOWN at this point. Captain Obvious here says hire an editor so you don’t have to go blind staring at the screen for 12 hours a day. Stop reading all the emails and messages because you just ain’t got time to reply.
The entertainment game is harsh, my friend. You were a defense attorney (I think) and I was a cop. Both professions are much easier than running a YouTube channel in my opinion. Fame is much more frightening than the mean streets or a courtroom. However, Fame pays a hell of a lot better. The juice is worth the squeeze. Get back in the game.
There. I feel better now.
Good luck, man.
